If God Is A Product Of Religion, Religion Is Wasted On Mankind
If god is the product of religion, man is free to shape this deity to suit the purposes of the created religion. As such, there are no consequences for failure to obey this man-made creature, and in truth there is no reason to follow any religion. If god is the product of religion, the creation of a new Head or the reject of a defined Head can anger only the man or group who crafted the religion. Therefore any man who dislikes the god of another man’s religion need only fear or respect the creators of the religion, not the deity presented by the religion for that, my friend, is a non-existent being.
- If there is in reality a God
- And if this God is indeed the creator of mankind
- And if this God created man for His own purposes;
Is it not reasonable to expect that such a God would in some manner define Himself and His purposes to the creature?
Now we could assume that God created man merely to observe how His creation would grow and interact with the environment in which He placed this creature. As such, man is free to craft religion in any fashion that suits the purpose of man, for the deity of such a religion is merely an observer of events, times and behaviors. Thus He surely places no value on the creature or the creature’s life. When using such a limited vision of God, even the one and only Creator God can be defined: god as a product of religion.
Furthermore, in this faulty system of belief we must also assume that God never intervenes in the processes that involve man. To escape the concept of a God that never intervenes, we can add the assumption that He sometimes mixes up the environment merely to experiment with His creation. And in this too, we must see a God who places no value on the creature He has created.
Now some men may determine to craft god as a god who interacts with the creature, while also valuing the creature so much that he considers the creature equal to himself. Therefore this deity has only an inexhaustible love for the creature. Thus He:
- Makes no demands on the creature
- Imparts no sense of order upon the creature
- Expects nothing concerning what the creature may ultimately become
- And indeed cares only that the creature should be fully content with self.
Such a deity is by nature a servant of the creature. He is therefore incapable of acting outside of the thoughts, intents and purposes of the creature. This deity’s knowledge and wisdom is limited to the knowledge and wisdom of the creator-creature. Although not defined god as a product of religion by those who follow such a foolish belief, this too is merely a god patterned after the will of man.
God As Revealed Through Christianity
We can practice a religion that is crafted by man and that has no purpose other than to bring other men into alignment with the will of those who crafted the religion. Or we can find the one true God. So this brings to light the most important question man can ever answer: In matters concerning God, how do we discern truth from lie?
If we are to understand God, we must come to terms with two critical points:
- Did God instill within mankind a desire to seek out His true nature?
- If God did instill within mankind such a desire, is He willing to provide us with a method for discerning that true nature?
Examine every god as a product of religion and you will find the works of man as the controlling factor. Examine God as revealed through Christianity and your will find the works of God as the controlling factor.
In order to discern between god as a product of religion and God as revealed through Christianity, I suggest that men should start by seeking a God who expresses His will without compromise to the will of man. This God, my friend, is the God of Christianity, the Trinity God who abides as God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. No other religion is defined in the manner that God has chosen to present Christianity.
On the contrary: Every other religion defines a path to God that is contrary to Christianity. If your god presents a path to heaven that is dependent upon your work, you will fail. If you doubt your own failure, you have never examined your own life. For all sin and fall short of the Glory of God. Even if you create your own set of rules, you will eventually either break those rules or reshape those rules.
However, if you will but understand that salvation is by grace, through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, you will also see the message that the Creator God has presented to the creature of His creation. Then, my friend, you will have discerned the difference between a lie and the truth.
